What I did this week (Week 52)

Writing to you from Burns, Oregon.
I am now halfway through my second 14-day assignment on the Falls fire in Oregon. The current plan is to get through the next week, then head back home to Denver for a few days.
Once I’m done here I will have been on night shift for almost a month. It would be nice to take a few days off to rest.
If things go according to plan. I’ll head back out onto a fire after a few days of break. Honestly, I have a hard time imagining that I don’t get back out on a fire soon after my break.
There’s a lot of fires in the west.
Night shift is still uneventful. Actually, last night I was talking to a couple different people, including my partner, about night shift. My partner said that this was the first time in 5 years that he was on the night shift.
So, I suppose I got a bit unlucky.
But, there are perks to the night shift. For example, I don’t have to deal with the heat, and with less action going on I’m better able to settle into …
