As you may know, many months ago I was offered a job with Minuteman EMS, a wildland EMS company run by Tyler Olson.
I completed the required online wildland firefighter training while I was still in Uruguay, but when I came back to the U.S. I had a few more things I needed to do…
The biggest thing I needed to get done was the S-130 field day, which is required training for all wildland firefighters and anyone else working in and around wildland fires.
I spoke about my experience at the S-130 field day in this update:
After I completed that course and my pack test (where you have to hike 3 miles in under 45 minutes) all I needed to get was my Red Card. The Red Card certifies me as a type 2 wildland firefighter.
Well, this was the week that I got that final certification that makes me an EMTF.
